Updating database on server

I have set up a database on my computer which works fine for testing and uploaded it to the server and again it worked fine. However when i modified the table with new columns and rows on the localhost and uploaded to the server i get the message "Unknown column 'Keywords' in 'field list' ". I uploaded the .frm .MYD and .MYI files, this is all rather new to me so i would appreciate if anyone could help me out here.

Why are you uploading .frm .MYD and .MYI files ?
Go to the server make database and export files with phpMyAdmin or MySqlFron

Just a random guess because i dont have a scooby doo. So is it not possible to ftp a modified database to the server? How do i tranfer the database across exactly, via a dump or something? My knowledge is minimal so i appreciate your patience

Ok
First of all go to download phpMyAdmin http://www.phpmyadmin.net/
then install it on your webserver also to your host you just need to put a map there be carefull with security and then when you make a data base and test on your webserver you can make dump of your database and import it from your host
