manually sending post data

its been a while, guys... the flight and getting settled in took some time. so here's my question...

is there any way to manually send post data?

I'd like to make it so that when someone clicks on a span element, the entire page is reloaded with some post data. however, I don't want the hassle of making a form because I'd have to make two... one submitting to the menu frame on top, and one to the page itself.

so... any takers?

A form sends it's vars to a page like this:
www.url.com?var1=yes&var2=no&var3=aha

So if you want to send any post data, change your link into that 🙂
<a href="www.url.com?var=yes">link</a>

BTW: when you do this, the vars are no longer post-vars, but get-vars 🙂

thanks, but not at all what I was looking for...

POST data, not GET data... I assume that post data is sent through the headers somehow, so maybe some sort of a "load-page-with-headers" function I don't know about???

really, this is a javascript question... I think...

document.headers ... document.load.headers ... I don't have a clue?!?!?!?

I have no idea if javascript allows to send request header and body, though.
If not, you probably won't get around using forms.

I did a similar thing to what I think you're trying to do, and the way I did it was to link to a seperate script with get data, send the post headers and redirect manually from there (as xblue mentioned) above.

It worked pretty well, I just had a whole bunch of get variables on the script i linked to, depending on what data i wanted to send. It does add an extra step in, but I couldn't find a way around that. We're talking such a miniscule step though, that the user wont even notice it 🙂

still uses GET tho... I guess there's no way around it if I don't want to use GET...
