this is a sql statment in microsoft access. and it works perfect. the sql shows all the availabl slots.

SELECT slotNo, TimeFrom, TimeTo, Positions AS AppointmentWith
FROM standardslots, Staffs
WHERE standardslots.StaffID="G1" AND Positions="GP"
AND NOT EXISTS (SELECT standardslots.staffID,AppointmentNO,Positions
FROM AppoDate,Staffs

WHERE slotNo=AppointmentNo AND date=[ENTER DATE] );

I want to write same sql in mysql server but it does not support the nested query. any one know te alternative for that. please is very important. thanks

write 2 queries

write the first one, the one that is nested, then take that value and put that into the second query

Mysql 4.1.0 supports nested querries.

yup, that would work also, wasn't thinking clearly when I read over your post, most of those suggestions will work, and most likely you don't have mysql 4+ if your site is hosted at a company, so tomhath's way would work the best to ensure you won't run into version problems
