sendmail slow

Hi everyone, I have a web form on my website that allows visitors to send me email. I'm using the mail() function but it is extremely slow. Anyone else having this problem?

PS. The mail seems to be arriving just fine. Inside my /etc/hosts file i put this in it:

192.168.1.xxx mydomain.com

Does that entry make a difference in the performance of sendmail?

the mail functions speed depends on a couple of factors

Wrong Email its sending it to.
Slow Mail Client that its sending to
Whether the function is actually supported on your site.. (Probably does but is a hidden factor no one really considers)

How the Mail Client sends the emails to its users.

Some of them wait till a certain time and send all emails to all users.
