I've got a chance to develop a BIG project - to take 7 catalogues (currently in Framemaker) for an electronics company - put them into a database for web/pdf/print extraction.
I know Framemaker can XMLise the content and extract the info to make new catalogue pages AND serve them from a web server.
I also know that Framemaker can handle the complex tables needed for representing the data and specification for each device/component they make.
I consider myself to be fairly adapt at coding now (thanks for all the help), and am wondering if there is an alternative route to go with this other than using proprietory software. Remember these are complex catalogues that need to be generated in real time - PDF's could be used for artwork....
Someone must have tackled such a project before - what's your take on a solution here? I could be after some paid consultancy to help me along with this!!!
