NTLM authentication for usage in mail

Hi,

I am building an intranet website. I would like to build a script which can take the username and password of the currently logged in user, without prompting him for username and password and use this to send mail through smpt server. What are the things required to do this? What are the additional modules to be put up in webserver to achieve this?
I am running apache 2.0.44 on win 2000.
PHP version is 4.3.1

If anybody had tried this before, please pm me the code
