Simple grep problem

This should be VERY easy to do, but i didn't manage to do it =)

I have string like this:
$status="Temperature is +1.9C and wind speed is 4m/s";

All what i want to do is have temperature to one variable and wind speed to another.

I have tried to use ereg_grep or match, and i just can't get it right. So, little help would be nice =)
