Greetings all! I am working on a site and being somewhat new to the wonderful world of php and mysql have stumbled across a problem.....

I need a search engine!!!! 🙂

Is there a snippet, program, or code that I can get that will allow the user to input the text they are searching for and then search the mysql DB and then echo the results?

Ok, let me explain what I am shooting for here. I am helping a friend build his website. He is going to sell games and software and stuff.

What I want is to be able to search mysql db for the text and bring back the results in a link form like what google and those guys do. You see a result that you like, and you click it.

If you're searching a single table, use the MySQL function "LIKE." It compares two things, where % is used as a wildcard. %a% means "any phrase containing the letter a."

If you are wanting to search files and things, try looking at or using some of the scripts here.
