writing out a mailto tag to an html file

Newbie here,

I am currently using php to write out html files. I cannot write out a mailto tag and was wondering if anyone had a suggestion.

I get a parse error. I also tried to assign the link to a variable and still get a parse error.

I believe the issue is the href= part of the tag.

Any help would be great.

Post the code that is giving you the error so I can take a look at it. I am sure it is soehing simple (famous last words)

if I get you right, then you should "escape" your quotes:

echo "<a href=\"mailto:[e-mail]\">Mail</a>";

or use single quotes:

echo "<a href='mailto:[e-mail]'>Mail</a>";

or this way:

echo '<a href="mailto:[e-mail]">Mail</a>';

It will take the code now thanks to your input. It still gives me a parse error as I want to specify the address as the contents of a variable:

<a href=\"mailto:$email">mail</a>

What I am doing is querying an ldap server then building pages as I iterate a for loop.
