Can PHP be written within Javascript?

I want to call up the information of this javascript scroller but I was wondering if it even can be done....

Sort of. PHP can write Javascript to the browser, and can vary the content sent to the browser, so you might be able to, for example, change the locations in the links in the script you posted, or anything else for that matter, but you'd need to think it through.

What you can't do is have any decision made out in surferland make any difference to the server unless the page is refreshed/re-served....

Right but how can I define these variables? I know nothing about combining this too?

Generally you define a variable with the assignment operator...sound familiar?

$var="stuff";

How do you construct your specific variables? I dunno. Where's your content coming from?

And you can concatenate variables...

$var2=" and more ";
$var3="stuff!";

$allstuff=$var;
$allstuff.=$var2;
$allstuff.=$var3;
echo $var.$var2.$var3;  // both of these lines

Well I know nothing about javascript...

I got this script from Dynamic Drive...

I was just seeing if I could do it....information from a MySQL db.

As far as JS is concerned, you don't need to know much. Do the PHP/MySQL, figure out the variables, and have PHP echo the Javascript to the client with the variables echoed in instead of hard values....

True. And, what's important varies in the eye of the programmer. I wonder if we shouldn't make life a little more educational by sending these people to code Hades, but I guess we'll just have to put up with it.

That's what <NOSCRIPT> tags are for....more work for us 🙁
