I'm not sure if I'm going about this right and would be forever grateful to the brain who can help me...
What I want to do is have users select keywords and groups. The keywords and groups selected will eventually be stored in separate tables associated with each member by member id.
Because there are so many groups (about 1,500), only a few of which will be relevent to any given member, I decided to use a 2-step process to pare down the list of groups to manageable size. This is done by asking each member to select from a list of keywords first and then from a list of only those groups which MAY HAVE an association with the keywords selected. This is basically how I'm going about it.
Once they choose (at least) one or more keywords on page 1 and press submit, I pass the chosen words as an array to page 2 which lists all the keywords they checked and only the keywords they checked. They are asked to check the list and, if it is OK, press submit to go to page 3.
On page 3, I want to print a list of groups associated with the checked keywords and this is where I'm stumped big time!
In my limited experience, I've never used an array to generate an array. I'm not sure how to do this. Second, even if I were comfortable with my SQL, I'd still have a problem with duplicates since each group is associated with multiple keywords.
For example, one might check the keywords freethrow, jumpball, bunt, linebacker, and touchdown. In which case, the associated groups would read basketball, basketball, baseball, football, and football.
I don't want that. I want it to read basketball, baseball, and football.
