What is "phpMyAdmin"?

I like to know about "phpMyAdmin".

What is it?
What for?
Who made it?

If I install PHP, is it automatically installed in my system?
or
Do I have to install it seperately?

What is it?
A script that allows you to edit your MySQL databases, tables, and entries with an extremly user-friendly Graphic-User-Interface (GUI).
What for?
To make things a lot easier for those who aren't that good at SQL and/or PHP.
Who made it?
The PHPMyAdmin development team. (That's their name for the project, obviously.)

You will have to install it manually.

Just to clarify, you don't install it like you do with things like apache or mysql. It is another website that will be run on a web server.

If you do install it yourself, just be sure to password-protect the directory. The reason is because anyone with access to it can delete, edit, and insert data into your databases. :eek:

Yeah, I agree with Daynah, but its not necessary if you are just running it on your own PC (unless you leave your PC running permanently on a bradband connection) and just want to use it for testing purposes.
