major confusion, no logic in this one

ok, me and a friend are working on a website, and we have the site up on server that's running Linux, the database and all my scripts i wrote for it are working on that, as soon as we move to the other server where the site is really going to be at and it screws up!

that site is run on a FreeBSD server, but has the same versions of everything running PHP and MYSQL......

how is that even possible? is there someway that FreeBSD is causing this problem?

we're completely confused

and i have the same scripts running on my server, a 3rd server at that, runnign a different website perfectly day in and day out...

what in the world could be our problem?

well, it's probably no version problem, I guess it's configuration related

--> httpd.conf (Apache)
--> php.ini

but without any info, nobody can help you

Since you don't say how it's screwed up, I can only guess.

My guess is the php.ini on the deployment server is not identical to the php.ini on the development server.

I'll go out on a limb and suggest that's it probably the ever popular register globals = off problem. There are several gazillion threads that discuss this issue.

Compare the results of the phpinfo() function between your sites.

Hey everyone.. just figured I would show you what happened.. i had the design all set.. and dv6 helped me out by for the most part letting me use a script he had been working on.. I Did a little tweaking to fit what I needed..

here is the one I tweaked on my domain..

Search works, if you click Cougar, Civic, Accord, Contour, things like that and then go into Cosmetic or Accessories (only ones that have any products so far), it brings up the proper ones..

However.. the REAL site:

it's a little off as all the items had been removed to attempt a fresh start.. However:

The first site works perfect.. the second site, even if Told to look for make=Honda&model=Accord it would display all the results, and then when you went to a second page or third page or whatever, it kept reverting make to Mercury.. and that would be for every car.. it would only see Mercury.. but it was told directly what it was looking for..
