Apache error

I installed apache 2.0.43 on windows XP.when i try to start, i get this error mesg:

Only one usage of each socket address(Protocol/network address/port) is normally permitted: make_socket: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:8080 no listening sockets available, shutting down.

I'm sure that there is no other server running.Well, where should i change my port address or which lines in my httpd.conf file should be modified?

Hope somebody would help me out.

there should be a line in your httpd.conf like:

Listen 80

you can change that to whatever port you want, if you want 8080
then:

Listen 8080

be sure to restart apache after making changes

I still get the same error(730048)

By defalut, I had 8080 and I changed to 8089, but still its the same.

Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to

prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses (0.0.0.0)

#Listen 12.34.56.78:80
Listen 8089

Should i modify any other lines??

you shouldn't need to change any other lines for port listening, not sure what your problem may be, sorry

Hi,

try to change the Listen line to

Listen 127.0.0.1:80 (or whatever port you want)

Restart the server afterwards and try to access the server with http://localhost/

After that change the line to
Listen <ip address>:80 and restart apache again.

If you want to know which ports are used already by the system, execute the command netstat -an.

ummmmm, yeah, that is what he has already tried if you would read the thread thoroughly, i already told him to try that, he did, and it still doesn't work, you don't need the local ip in the listen either, it will use it by default

Are you sure you have administrator rights when logged in?

Try typing
netstat -an
in a command prompt to see if another program is using the port
