php iis win2k - installation help

I just tried installing php today on my win2k machine using the iis web server. Php works when I call it to run from the command line, but won't work when I try to bring the page up in IE. The message I get is:

CGI Error
The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers. The headers it did return are:

Can anyone give me clue as to what this means? Thanks!

You have installed PHP as CGI, which I also find to get difficult to get to work. How about using Apache, which is better integrated with PHP? It's for free also, and you can use a free installer like http://www.e-novative.de/downloads that configures everything automatically on your system. I found this best, I don't want to fumble around too much with these ini and conf files.

PHP is dead easy to get working when usiong IIS, especially as a CGI. Working as a module is harder, and sometimes will make it crash.

do you have a link to some good documentation for a module installation on IIS? Anything I found this far was confusing or I just didn't get it to work.

Any help is appreciated.

Not really, but I've pretty much steared clear of running PHP as a module on IIS, since a large number of people I have spoken to said that PHP continually crashed their servers when installed as a module. Do you have to have IIS? Why not try installing Apache (not version 2) instead? Its v stable on windows.

Or, if you are running the server as a testing one, it's pretty safe to have PHP running as a CGI. Thats what i have and it hasnt fallen over once 😃

if you just need a personal web server for running PHP under windows, get a free copy of BadBlue. Click the help tab after installing - run the PHP wizard and it will prompt you through setup of PHP. It's pretty easy.

Dunno wot version of your PHP,
but you may try my suugestion:

uncomment cgi.force_redirect and set the value to zero.

cgi.force_redirect = 0

make sure there is no ; infront of cgi.force....

hope this can help ya..
