What are the most demanding web applications?

hi, what are the most demanding web application now a days? Has anyone do a research on this topic?

What do you mean by demanding? Demanding on the server, the programmer, the user?

I find that mostly now I'm being contracted to make either corporate Intranet, or financial applications. At the moment I'm working on a General Ledger/Accounting system that is to be put into place for a company. Really, what I'm doing is building up applications that allow companies to record all of their data internally, while still allowing for automated external access, so that clients can do things like place orders, check archived invoices, etc. All-In-One systems 😉

This is just from personal experience, it may be different in different areas of the world, but that's what's going on around here 😉

I gen contracted mainly for three types of work:

email forms - this is the guy who made the page himself and just wants some forms to send email.

high end stuff - game servers, test servers, we're talking 10,000+ lines of code apps here

I also do a lot of work for publishers who generally want to control their content themselves and not mess with HTML.

OK so this is my opinion

The most demanding projects are where

1) There is no functional specification, or worse
2) The specification changes frequently
3) The clients insist on doing it in a praticular way (not letting us developers use our vast experience and judgement)

and finally the biggest bugbear of them all

4) The client expects the earth but wants to pay peanuts (sound familiar)

There i feel a better now
