Differences in command line and browser?

I am wanting to run a script from the command line on a CRON job in Redhat 8 (yes still the same problem:mad: ) but I'm comming accross a problem.

It works fine and sends the attached CSV file as expected if I run it through a browser but if I run it from the command line I the attached CSV file is just commas and new lines.

What I need to know is what are the differences between running a script through browser and running them from the command line? Once I know this I will be able to change the script so that it works from the command line.

not sure about the difference between command line and browser, but you could always install lynx on your server, then have the cron job pull up lynx to run the php script

I've found out where the problem is but can't figure out how to solve it.
if I runa string like this

ALIGN="RIGHT">12.95

through this ereg_replace

$bibbit[$i]=ereg_replace("[^{>]*>","",$bibbit[$i]);}

it deletes the whole string rather than just what's to the left of the >

What can I do to solve this?

I do have SSH access but I'm not allowed to install programs on the server.

i think it is because right is in double quotes, i ran something similar with single quotes and it worked fine

Sorted it out. Discovered that the html tags would be the same every time so I just used str_replace. I still don't understand why that wasn't working right though.

I guess it's just one of those things I'll have to bring up when I'm on the team building PHP6 😃

Well, let's disect your regex...

"[^>] means anything that isn't a >, while * means 0 or more of them. and > means a > char.

So, this would match: "o>" since o is NOT a > sign, and it is followed by a > sign.

Might you try this one: "^.+>"

Note that it's common to misunderstand ^[0-9] and [^0-9]

^[0-9] means a left column anchor
[^0-9] means NOT 0-9
