[Resolved] Automatically Getting variables from URL

Hey all,

New dillema:

Say in the address bar of your browser it says: http://domain.com/page.php?variable=1&another=2. And in that page you have a link that says ../anotherpage.php?variable=&another=. How can I insert the variable values in the URL automatically into that link?

Probably something like
echo 'href="../anotherpage.php?variable=' . urlencode($GET['variable']) . '&another=' . urlencode($GET['another']) . '"';

okay cool, so it would be something like this:

echo 'href="anotherpage.php?variable=' . urlencode($GET['variable']) . '&another=' . urlencode($GET['another']) . '"';
?>

Whats the double quotes at the end for? And how would I use that as a LINK? Sorry for the simple questions.

well, if you look carefully, you would see that my example actually is that of filling the href attribute of an anchor tag with a value.
From there you would get the whole anchor tag, thus the whole link.

echo '<a href="anotherpage.php?variable=' . urlencode($_GET['variable']) . '&amp;another=' . urlencode($_GET['another']) . '">Another page</a>'; 
?>

Okay, I change the code a little to just get ONE variable:

echo "<a href=\"printlegal.php?pageid=' . urlencode($_GET['pageid'])'\" class=\"bodynav\">Printer Friendly</a>";
?>

It doesn't work, when I mouseover the link that it creates, the status bar shows the link is this: http://domain.com/page.php?pageid=' . urlencode()'

Why? What part of your code did I screw up?

Well, you forgot to change one single quote to a double quote since you are using double quotes as string delimiters now.
Aside from that, you need to concatenate (i.e. join) the urlencode() part to the rest of the string properly.

The result should then be:

<?php 
echo "<a href=\"printlegal.php?pageid=" . urlencode($_GET['pageid']) . "\" class=\"bodynav\">Printer Friendly</a>";
?>

Here is an easy way to simply pass the user to another page with the exact same query string:

<?php 
echo '<a href="anotherpage.php?'.$_SERVER['QUERY_STRING'].'">Another page</a>';
?>
