Hi there,

i got a problem with getting my apache/php to work properly on Linux.
First of all : The code that i've written works fine on my XP/Xitami Installation.
Now i tried to migrate the Code to my new Linux System.
On this System the Cookies aren't send. Im very new to Linux, and so i guess i have a configuration Problem here. Don't know if it's an apache configuaration- or php-configuration Problem.
First confusing is, that i don't have a php.ini file (or im not able to find it ;-) )
When i put out the php.info, it says it should be in /etc - but there isn't one.
I've searched as well in /usr/local/lib.

One word to the cookie prob : after i called the script which should set the cookie i checked my Cookie Manager and the cookie isn't there.
Same browser and same script (but connecting on my XP/Xitami machine) works fine ...

I hope someone could help me with this ...

just found the Problem :p

with my linux php installation the variables i submitted through a form are not present till i do a

$myvariable=$_POST['myvariable']

so a cookie can't be set. But anyway : Which parameter do i have to change so i don't need the $_POST method ?

Hi,

you need to change register_globals from off to on in the php.ini. But it is strongly recommended to leave it on for security reasons. It might even be possible that the php group will render that ini setting obsolete in the future so it would really be the best to use the $POST and $GET stuff to ensure that you really access POST and GET variables and not something else and to be compatible to future php releases...

ahh, ok. So this will bring me some work ;-)
One last question : What about the values submitted with the "?value=test" parameter on an url ?
Can i access this ones without any $_xxx Method, or do i have to place a workaround aswell ?

Those variables are get variables so you can use $_GET to access them.

$GET: get variables
$POST: post variables
