Is it posible to get the $HTTP_REFERER variable in a popup window?

im trying to have a popup window that will tell you were you came from.

So say if i have index.php with the popup code on it and then the popup window opens, it will say that it came from index.php.

You're better off opening the popUp with a query string saying where you came from...

Theoretically, yes. Try echoing it, see what happens. Don't rely on HTTP_REFERER only, though, it's not that reliable (in that it's not always sent, nor accurate in any way).

I like the passing it option becuase that means you could display the title to the person.

You could go even farther with this one and set up a database table to store information about the file, then pass the key into this table and have the program report all important data to the user.

Examples: Last Update, Page Title, Last Revision, Creation Date, Version Number

when echo it out in the popup, nothing appears, but when i echo it through a normal link it works.

So what other ways are there apart from HTTP_REFERER and passing the variable in the url?
