variable contents

lets say $PHP_SELF had 'news' somewhere in it... according to this, how could i say that $newsvariable = "yes, this is a news page"

example:

we are on page blahblah.com/news/story.php?id=1

since the url has 'news' in it, $newsvariable = "yes, this is a news page"

or we are on page blahblahblah.com/sitestuff/newsstory.php --- again, the url has 'news' somewhere in it so $newsvariable is set

note: this is case-insensitive (News, NEWS, news, nEws)

ok the code is working except one thing i forgot

what about variables tacked on to the end of the url like

blahblah.com/thething.php?action=sitenews

how would i get it to work? php_self doesn't include the vars

ok heres a better example

lets say i have a url of blahblah.com/something.php?system=genesis

The word GENESIS appears in the url, so i want to $avar = "This is a a genesis page"

$php_self only shows /something.php --- not the variables as well.

If you know the name of the variable that will contain "news" then just check the $_GET array

http://www.xxx.com/index.php?page=news

if ($_GET['page'] == 'news') {echo 'yes, this is a news page';}
