Is there a way to send two pages to the browser from one php script?

Hi!

Does anybody know if it is possible?

I want to send some output to the browser while I'm doing long tasks (like long queries) and then I want the previous output to dissapear and the new one to be shown. Let's say, show a new page but not redirecting as I don't want to loose the data or calculations I have just performed.

I thought of opening a popup window and showing there the temporary output, then close the window. But I'm not allowed to use JavaScript. Can I open a window from Php? I don't think so.

I have been reading and reading and have found nothing about this.

You'll have to use some client-side programming, unless you echo out a redirect after the calculations are made (which MIGHT work).

I doubt you can do it without redirecting in JavaScript.

By the way, how can I use a redirect and not loose the data I just got from the database?

There are quite a few ways you can go about it. Add it into a session, or manually create the post headers when it redirects. Probably the easiest way is to use the session. You could also add it into the URL and retrieve it using the GET method, but that's a little bit .... messy. 🙂
