PHP in safe_mode: How to delete files?

Hi.
If i'm on a shared server where the PHP works in safe_mode, i know that to upload files you must use move_uploaded and NOT copy(). However the file is created with UID "nobody" and not my uid.

How can i then delete it (unlink) if i don't own it.

The server administrators tell me that they can delete the files for me, but this is not the right thing to do.

Are there any essential functions that i'm not allowed to do in safe_mode?
A lot of people say that it's good to have safe_mode ON, since it provides some security on the server. On the other hand, if i'm going to have trouble with basic functions i want for my scripts, then what's its purpose.

Any advise please?

I'm not sure if it's going to work, but maybe you can try FTP commands? You do an ftp_connect() to your server and folders and then delete the file with ftp_delete().

Don't forget to have the proper permissions on your folders.
