selecting fields of the same name from different tables

I need to get the value of 2 fields in each of two tables and the fields have the same name how would I do this?

Post your current query, if I'm understanding you correctly all you have to do is SELECT tableone.columnname tabletwo.columnname FROM tableone tabletwo

yeah I can select the data I guess my question was worded wrong - I need to know how I would reference that data in php

normailly I would

$sql = "SELECT holeblack.ID, holeblack.name, holeblue.ID, holeblue.name
FROM holeblack, holeblue"

$result = mysql_query($sql);
WHILE ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) {

//output php here
$row['name'] /*which name value will that refer to? */

}

Sorry, that was my fault. Your question was perfect but I forgot to complete what I was writing.

SELECT holeblack.ID as blackID, holeblack.name as blackName, holeblue.ID as blueID, holeblue.name as blueName FROM holeblack, holeblue
