TEXTAREA data is being tabbed when saved to DB

Hi,

I've pulled my hair out on this...

The problem is that everytime I update the TEXTAREA fields,
it mysteriously adds 2 or 4 TABS in them.
It only occurs on the textarea fields.
If anyone can solve this, I would really be greatful.

Not really a solve but a workaround. Have a look at the trim() function. If they are tabs as is \t then have a look at the str_replace function and replace "\t" with "".

Nope, tried all of that.

trims, str_replaces... result nothing.

I'm loosing my mind on this damn thing.

Well, if trim and str_replace are having no effect I think that you can safely say that the tabs/white spaces are being added after that point.

Use trim and str_replace just before you display them. This way you'll knwo if the problem is in the php or in the html.

guess what the problem was guys???

The code had to look like this

<textarea rows="4" cols="30" name="Address" maxlength="99"><? print $Address; ?></textarea>
</td>
</tr>

not

<tr>
<td valign="top"><? echo $add_user_general_Address ?><p /></td>
<td valign="top">
     <textarea rows="4" cols="30" name="Address" maxlength="99">
	<? print $Address; ?></textarea>
   </td>
</tr>

The <? print $Address; ?></textarea> was on a separate line and was tabbed over to look pretty.

who would have thought coding structured would cost me ONE DAY!.
