regular expressions

hi guys,

here's my problem:

let's say I have this line:

MPVP +PV*VAGAIN

i AM USING preg_match to detect the existence of a variable called 'V'

i wanna make sure that my regular expression does not detect the 'V' in the variables MPVP, PV, and VAGAIN but it will detect 'V' even though it might be surrounded by symbols like '+', '', '/', spaces, etc. for example in num1V-num2
