Basic: Passing Variable in Address Bar

I have a certain header for May, but I want to display different days.

I'd like to pass the day variables in the address bar.

[url]http://www.mysite.php=2003May01[/url]
or
[url]http://www.mysite.php=2003May05[/url]

So it's the same header every time, but only
the day part of the text changes.

Forgive me, but I've been searching for hours and haven't found the answer I need.

The correct way to write it is:

http://www.mysite.com/?date=2003May01

http://www.mysite.com/index.php?date=2003May05

Then the variable will be stored in $_GET['date']

So, in the receiving page, I would write:

<?php
$date=$_GET['date']
readfile($date);
?>

If you wanted to read from a file that is name 2003May01 (or whatever it may be), yes.

What's the error you get?

 <?php
$date = $_GET['id'];
readfile($date);
?>

I'm not quite sure readfile() is what you want, either. You might be wanting include().
