I have a production server runnign RedHat 8.0/Apache 2/PHp 4.2.2/Mysql 3.23
I desperately need to upgrade MySQL to 4.0.12
Being rather new to linux, I need to make this as simple and painless as possible. I am quite sure that I can not just rpm -Uhv the new mysql rpm's and expect apache to work because of the mysql.so...
I know I need to
1) rpm -e mysql 3.23 packages
2) rpm -Uhv mysql 4.0.12 packages
then what? rpm -e php and rebuild php from source? Does apache also need to be rebuilt? does the makefile need to be editied before i run make / make install? I am rather new to compiling on a linux box so please give detailed instrauctions...
Thanks
