simple mailing list manager recommendation?

Hello all

Thanks a lot to everyone who responded to my last post.

My next PHP project is going to be a mailing list manager for a small business site. I know this has been written a million times before, and I can probably learn from the work of others rather than inventing it all myself.

I'd be very grateful if anyone could direct me to a free script which would

• be simple for me to understand, install, and modify, without having to get my hands dirty with apache.

• store email addresses in MySQL

• allow users to subscribe and unsubscribe themselves, preferably by simply clicking a link in the email.

I'll probably end up doing this mostly my self, but if anyone can point me toward one that's been done really well, it might be able to save me from making some dumb mistakes.
