Backup MySql database?

I just learned that my webhost does not backup any of their MySql database data. This scares me because I have 100s of hours into my database. They said I would have to do it manually.

Does anyone know of some good documentation on how to backup a MySql database?

Do webhosts normally not backup this on a routine basis?

if you have phpmyadmin installed go into export and click save to file that will provide a backup.

If you can Telnet or SSH into your host, then

mysqldump --opt -uUSER -pPASSWORD DATABASENAME > /home/USER/dbasebackup-05-14-2003.sql

Most webhosts don't backup ANYTHING.
