Test ( 11:26 local time 10:26 GMT )
[Resolved] PhpBuilder has Incorrect GMT time
Works for me
All fine here too..
GMT = 1:36PM, Localtime = 2:36PM
basically, i provide you with a screenshot, so you can really see it.
i think the programmer forget about the GMT 00:00 don't have to plus 1 hour.
If i am not wrong, people from GMT 00:00 location till GMT +12:00 location will have a phpbuilder time plus one more hour to them.
i post the screenshot later.
so, here is the screenshot
hmm, I mentioned this not long after I joined:

could daylight savings time be the problem?
I'm from Singapore, so I dont really have any experience with it, though I did think that it only applied towards December/winter or something.
... same problem... why just the jstarkey believe us... just once...
well, i'm over here in BC (GMT-800), and everything is displaying fine
i've never seen it on daylight savings time though.....haven't been here that long
If someone has already suggested this, then forgive me, but wouldn't it be possible to either:
1) change the options in the drop-down box as such:
(GMT-5:00 hours) Eastern Standard Time (US & Canada)
(GMT-4:00 hours) Eastern Daylight Time (US & Canada)
and so on...
Then even those people who are technically in Eastern time, but do not participate in Daylight Savings Time (e.g., Indiana) could opt out, so to speak.
OR
2) Have a check box that the user would check if they participate in Daylight Savings Time, which would adjust the time accordingly.
I don't know how customizable vBulletin is, but surely we can't be the only ones with the dilemma, you know?

Pretty good suggestion, Elizabeth; it would just need another entry being added to the list (GMT+1300).
But I'm thinking the problem may be a bit deeper: 7:30am plus twelve hours is not 8:30pm however you cut it.
And GMT doesn't do daylight saving; that's why it's mean time.
Yes, I was thinking that if it was possible to set up the check box, when the user indicated that they participated in Daylight Savings Time, then one hour would simply be added to the person's current time, as long as the date fell in between April XX and October XX. Is it as simple as that or am I missing something?

I guess this will be a moot point when vb3 is finally released ...

This is not a bump, it's a reminder
Problem still exists for me. I'm -06:00 Saskatchewan and we do not use daylight savings time. I have my time zone on the board here set to -6 and such and it is an hour ahead of what my computer says.
As for VB3, it's seems it's out and looky here: http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/onepage/#item23
On with the reminder....
I am currently on NZST. That's UTC+12:00
UTC is 2004-05-08 05:06:01
NZST is 12 hours ahead of that, at 2004-05-08 17:06:01
------------but----------
PHPBuilder's timestamp says:
"All times are GMT +12 hours. The time now is 06:01 PM."
And my user preferences agree (GMT+12 hours).
Somewhere there is an extra hour getting in.
Does vBulletin work off GMT or the server's timezone? I suspect that could do it - when the server goes into Daylight Saving it would introduce an extra hour and end up over-estimating the time for everyone not using Daylight Saving at that moment.
(As an FYI, NZDT runs from 02:00:00 the third Sunday in March to 02:00:00 the first Sunday in October, and is 1 hour in magnitude.)
