[Resolved] sum of all records in DB?

hello.
I would like to have this sectence on my website.

"there are curently (***) images on the website"

and *** = the number of records.

I have about 7 tables that i need to cound records in?
so do i need to mention them all in the code?

Because PHPMYADMIN automatically shows the 'sum' when you have the main database selected, so it must be simple?

could someone post up the code here?

if i do the query in phpmyadmin, it returns details about all the tables fine!

so if i want to show the sum of records, do i need to echo something for it to display the number...

by sum of the records do you mean the total number of records in all the tables or do you mean the the total of the values contained in each record ??

eg
table 1
1|200
2|300

table 2
1|2000
2|3000

do you want to show sum = 4 ie total records in the db or
sum = 200+300+2000+3000

yep, i would like the sum (100+200+1000+2000)

you see i have about 7 tables, each containing a number of images.

and i would like the total of all the tables.

the total is shown in the admin program, and i have checked the source of that, but there are defined variables that will not work if i apply them to mine.

im sure it must be simple.
maybe i have to add all the tables?

ah, ive just thought.....

it is not the sum, because the thing im counting are image paths.
ill give an example of what i have got.

its still the thumbnail galley.

walls_berks
has 54 picture paths

walls_hamps
has 23 picture paths

walls_other
has 3 pics

Walls_abroad
has 58 pics

so i want 54+23+3+58

well if you need to show just the total number of images [ in other words the total records] in all the tables in the database use this
