Thanks for the URL... always good to find image manipulation sources.
I disagree however, that this forum is the manual. Asking questions here is a secondary or tertiary step in information gathering. Developing a logical approach to information needs aids greatly in getting the desired information with a minimum of hassle and delay.
For example, this thread is a "how do I" thread. The logic process might work like this.
a) am I looking for an algorithm so that I can write what I want to do (resize a jpeg image), or;
b) am I presuming that someone has already written something that resizes jpegs?
If the answer is a), then a post to this group (or perhaps a graphics group) is appropriate as a first shot. But let's say the answer is b). Then,
c) did you search the php manual to see if there was a function that did what you want, or;
d) did you simply post to the forum, asking for the answer, which I gave?
If the answer is c), then a post to the forum is appropriate. Either the function does not exist, or it is unclear how it works, or the questioner does not know where to look.
On the other hand, if the answer is d), then the poster MAY get a correct answer, but
e) wants someone else to do the reference lookup work, and
f) the poster never gets to understand everything php does by simply going through the manual. I'm pretty new to PHP myself, but I've got a real sense of what the language is and can do... one thing leads to another while searching for a reference.
