Poll - What editor do you use to write your apps??

I'm just wondering what tools you all are using to write your php and other coding? I wonder if there is a better app out there than what I'm using.

I currently write a lot of php, html (of course), sql queries in the code, as well as some occasional VBScript and ASP.

I don't care about the "WYSIWYG" editor functions as they are usually crap and scramble up my nicely written code.

I would however like some powerfull tools to quickly build forms, tables, and so on. Also, would be very nice to allow me to make a change on one page, and have a tool that finds and propgates a change to all the other pages (for example, changing the page title from "Product v1.0" to "Product v2.0".

I am currently using HomeSite 5 and have really liked it. I've been using HomeSite for years now. I played with MicroShaft InterDev for a while, but it was just way over-complicated, and tried to do too much file management behind the scenes.

I just want something with powerfull text editing capabilities, color coding, auto code formatting and so on.

So what do you use?

I use HTML-Kit - http://www.chami.com/html-kit/

I used to use Homesite, but HTML Kit is a very similar product, and it's free. If you already use Homesite, you would be right at home with HTML Kit, however I don't think you'll find it any more powerful (although I havn't compared the 2 in a long time).

I am using both PHPEdit and Macromedia Dreamweaver MX (FYI Kazaa Lite not Kazaa, has been very beneficial in obtaining some of the pricier dev platforms. I've been using Dreamweaver so I can learn it and also to find out if it will fit my needs before I purchase it).

For some time I used MySQL Front, which is no longer available but I will send it to you if you want it, but have found SQLYog much easier and more stable (http://www.webyog.com/).

For text replacement I use BK ReplaceEm. It will propegate thru any file or files to locate the original text and replace any line or lines you desire. It will even create a backup of the originals.

I use... Notepad and I'm proud of it ! That's the best program if you want a total control on your code !

My personal preference, being a Un*x junkie, is a range of Unix-tools (such as vim, sed/awk and so on). For me this works perfectly, but as usual with Unix-software it takes some practice to get going..
