loading dynamic pages

Basically, I'm trying to figure out how to load multiple pages with one script. So I'm trying to understand what I've seen at any dynamic website, whether it be php or perl or asp. I noticed that in the address bar of my browser, there is the script name and then a whole bunch of other stuff(real technical huh?).

Something like a "forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=2" link found on the main forum view on this board.

I've gotten some snippets of code, but with no explanation, they're not very helpful. What would be great would be if someone knew of a tutorial that explained that whole process, even at a basic level.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

basically that link is saying

go to this page

forum.php

and some query or logic on the pages needs the variable f

in this case it is the forum ID and then the sql calls pull theinfo based on that variable.

This allows you to code one page and show multiple possabilities of data within that page.

Make sense?

Yes, that makes sense to me. My problem now however, is I can't find a fairly simple example to look at, and play around with. Any ideas?

Don't understand.
What GET function?

You is talking about form's method, like
<form method=GET action="$SELF_PHP"> ?

Or $_GET[] array for get globals variables ?

In second case is needed only if globals are off (default in last release of php...)

In the first one is not needed, the file is called "manually" by href

...

Is there a full script somewhere I can download to play around with?

As i have said
i find this script on www root of apache distribuited with any version of easyphp.
The file is called index.php3 or general.php depending on version.
