is it possible to access the registry of either the server which is executing the code or of the local user that is visiting the page and calling for execution of the code?
if so, what does the code look like if i want to change or view the value of a corresponding key in the registry?

access the client's registry: no
access server's registry: there's probably no built-in function, you
should do this with an external program (c ...) which you call with
system() or exec() or ...

lol definatly not access the registry of clients box. i'm sure there are interesting bugs that give u weird access, but i don't know em. server registry yes, but you'd probly have to use an external prog. to do it. build an app in vb or c. not really shore if you can do it in php.
