MySQL, Snort & stunnel

I created a database for 'snort' on one of my machines. Machine 1 will store the data and graph it thanks to gd, phplot and the whole #!. Currently when snort tries to connect to the database I receive this error:
database: mysql_error: Access denied for user: 'snortman@whateverhostItryfrom' to database 'snort'
SQL=UPDATE sensor SET last_cid = 0 WHERE sid = 1
database: Closing connection to database "snort"
Snort exiting

I suspect that this is an mysql error but I dunno where the problem lies. I've "grant INSERT,SELECT,CREATE,DELETE on snort.* to snortman@every-host-I've-tried-to-use IDENTIFIED BY 'snortman'; " I even tried snortman@"%" but I get the same error. I'm, VERY new to MySQL so I may have incorrectly created the database - gave the wrong permissions or in the wrong order etc. I did flush privileges use databasename (snort) and show tables; and it looks fine. I also bound the system IP to mysql when it runs. SO I eliminated stunnel and setup snort on that machine (the machine that was originally going to be setup as the database logger) and changed the respective files BUT it still doesn't work.

Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON snort.* TO 'snortman'@'%'

or

GRANT Select, Insert, Update, Delete, Index, Alter, Create, Drop, References ON snort.* TO 'snortman'@'%'

or

GRANT Select, Insert, Update, Delete, Index, Alter, Create, Drop, References ON snort.* TO 'snortman'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'snortpwd'

The GRANT Select, Insert, Update, Delete, Index, Alter, Create, Drop, References ON snort.* TO 'snortman'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'snortpwd'; command worked like a charm - I'll try to get it so that my system sends to that machine over stunnel in a bit (I'm at work - I've been devoting too much time to this) but it works!
