Hello,
First off, I know this seems real simple, I've looked at some of the posts around here hoping someone else had the same trouble. I've been over to php.net about 20+ times in the past 4 days. It would seem that this is the file I need: PHP 4.3.2RC2 . I've got Windows98, but each and everytime I download this I get nothing but "Unspecified Error" when I try unzipping it, or running it, or whatever. I'm using 7-zip, a freeware zip program, that automatically should open/unzip it, but I get this message instead. I also have 2 or 3 other zip utils. that I've downloaded and tried but nothing from them either. This seems so simple, so most people never bother to try to help, but really, there must be something going on here. I may be new on this board and to PHP as a language, but I know other languages and I'm familiar with programming in general. I'm now at a stand-still in my small project because of no PHP interpreter.....( I don't make a living at this, and it's more for enjoyment, but still, I would like to see this language in action on my project)
I have this new compiler that can take its code and compile it to PHP or C++ code. I've got the C++ compiler and that part of it works fine, so I know that is OK, but now I really need to get this PHP archive that I would imagine would contain a "PHP interpeter" ( is that right? ). I've contacted the author of the new compiler and he just says to go to www.php.net.( Also I've tried Zend, another PHP site, but they charge for this, I think, and I don't want to put money into something that isn't for-profit to begin with ).... someone had said that maybe my download manager is to blame, but I downloaded the zip programs, C++ compiler, and even an Internet Explorer upgrade just last night that was rather large- so I think that this PHP archive should be no problem. Yet it is.
Anyone have any idea of what is going on here? I'm going round and round and at this point I can't help but wonder: is breaking out the Assembler, Linker, and ol' Assembly language won't be easier than getting a start in PHP! I figured I'd try PHP because I've heard many people say it is simple yet powerful.....Thanks in advance, I'd really apprieciate any help you could give in this matter,
Jay
