[Resolved] looping sql statements...

I need a little help to get this code to work properly. It works half way. The sql statements run, but I can't get it to define the values correctly.

Take a look:

$counter = $counter;
for($s=1; $s < $counter; $s++){

$sql = "sql".$s."";

$newpubid = "pubid".$s."";
$newpubdate = "pubdate".$s."";

    $$sql = "insert into insertions
            (pubid,pubdate,orderno)
values('$$newpubid','$$newpubdate','$orderno')";

$result = mysql_query($$sql);


}

Echo $$sql, what's it say? I'm wondering if the $$ in the query is working or not.

Well, the $$sql is working fine, because it does the insert. It is the $$newpubid and $$newpubdate that aren't working properly. I need to know another way to get the same result, though.

I need each loop to have $$newpubid = $pubid1, $$newpubid = $pubid2, etc, etc....

Any ideas on how to accomplish this in the values section???

Yeah, but is $$newpubid being turned into $pubid[n...] inside the query?

No, it isn't, it just turns into $pubid1, $pubid2...instead of the value of those....

Use it like this:
'".$$newpubdate."'
and see if that yields better results. (I just used periods to concatenate the variable variable with the string (query).

Try: $newpub = $$newpubdate;
Then just use '$newpub' in the sql query.
