New with php stuffs and mysql

I am New with PHP & MYSQL.
To start with, equipt with Pentium II 400, WinNT4.0, PWS, MYSQL installed and PHP4.3.1.

The PHP is configured and when tested with <? php phpinfo() ?> everything runs perfect.

Question:

1. How do I make my database using the MYSQL?
2. How do I connect?
3. How do I create my database?

Any url for tutorials on MYSQL???

Well, try reading the documentation at http://www.mysql.com
actually, you probably have the documentation on your comp if you've installed mysql.

Yup,
I have read all(nearly!) in the documentation in the MYSQL received from www.mysql.com...... but it seem a bit "blurr"...

I did try to create a table from (suppose) C:\mysql\bin\ and run it from mysql>create table .....(pheww!..) all in vain.
In fact none (I mean the table) created.

Do I have to do it the same thing as Oracle? (all in DOS mode)?
There is a program mysqlgui......but the 'setting-up' is a bit "blurr".

Help me with this.....please.....

Before you can create any tables, you need to create a database using:

create database foobar;

Then create your tables. When you've done that then you need to add a user and password in the database called mysql so that php can connect to it. Youll also need to set the privileges for the user before you can connect.

If you want a gui (which makes the whole setup and admin of mysql a hell of alot easier!!) then I recommend downloading Ems mysql manger.

I recommend working through at least the first half of the MySQL tutorial which is contained within the manual. In the second half it gets very complicated and addresses a lot of things which you may never do. You should know how to:

1. Create a database
2. Create tables (different field types)
3. Extract selected info from tables
4. Organise info from tables in a form that suits you
5. Alter table structure and content

Even if you install things like PHPMyAdmin, you will still have to be able to do all these things and you have to know about MySQL syntax to be able to run queries through PHP.
