Well, do you know how to delete cookies in the first place?
Read the PHP manual on setcookie() if you dont, and from there you can work out the answer to your question.

I have read that but am still unsure as i used a cart from a tutorial. I modified the cart to fit my needs but it doesn't seem to set cookies in the way that is explained in the manual.

see whether the link i provided can help or not...
no i read it, the cart am using doesn;t seem to use the setcookie function or sumthing like that,
set the expiration date of the cookie to a date in the past.
