ereg() is the worst

🙁 alright i need it to go through but only IF it's only numerals 1-9 and i mean ONLY that

so... i'm trying to use ereg() and i have

if(ereg("[[:digit:]]", $raffcount)) {

now this works if you just put in a letter, but let's say you do 1a or a1 or aa11 or 11aa or anything like that it goes through.

any help would be great 🙂

if(ereg("[^[:digit:]]", $raffcount)) {
   echo "Sorry. Please enter only digits in your string";
} else {
   echo "Good. Only Digits were found in your string";
}

Ummm...no. The ^ symbol in regex means "at the beggining of the string." Its not "NOT".

I agree that ereg is the worst (it's certainly the slowest). There are much better functions available.

preg_match('/[^\d]/', $raffcount)

(contains a non-digit)
Or (I'm assuming that $raffcount might be more than one digit):

is_numeric($raffcount)

(Is a number)
