php for photography database..?

Hello,

I am very new to PHP, I am working on a website for a photographer he has roughly 6000 pictures he needs to display, thumbnail and when the thumbnail is clicked it opens the full size picture with an order # of the picture. creating each page is going to be a huge pain. is there anyway to use php to help me create this website easier? if someone could point me in the right direction on how i can do this without creating thousands of pages i would greatly appreciate it.

Sounds like what you're after is an image gallery. I see www.hotscripts.com cited often in these forums when someone asks about one of these, but I'm sure a Google search for PHP image gallery would turn up plenty of other sources.

I'm guessing that the only thing missing would be a one-off script that will take all the existing images, generate thumbnails, and register all of them in the database. There may be some that do bulk updates, however.
