Please help, don't know what to do...

Hey. If you've read my other posts, you know that I'm writing the website and backend for my school's theater program. I've got a login script and I'm working on forums and an image gallery. I have also created a news/blog script for them to post news updates.

Now: The director of the program knows nothing about html and has been using FrontPage to make the site for years. Since the server at our school with PHP does not have FrontPage access, he needs a different way to update/delete/add new pages. Therefore, I have chosen to write a WYSIWYG Editor for him.

My only problem is that I have no idea where to get started! If any of you could tell me what I will need to pull this off and/or can link me to any online articles/tutorials that pertain to this issue, please do so. This is a large project and I really have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to an online editor. I think I may want the final outcome to look something like this: http://www.webedpro.com/

Why not just set the page up with templates and let him use FrontPage?

there are two servers for our school...

One: the main school server that he can use frontpage on

Two: A student-run server with php and mysql... he needs the login code and all the other php scripts ive set up and i didnt want half the site on one server and half on another server... therefore, i NEED the editor... also, id prefer to have written the code myself, even if it is shitty and possibly buggy

I don't see the problem, sorry. I don't use FrontPage, I just know it blows 🙂

the problem is that he cant upload from his computer with frontpage to the server with PHP. He can only upload to the non-PHP server...

I'm still confused.. the PHP server doesnt parse HTML pages but the FrontPage server does?

All i've got out of this post is that you can't upload from FrontPage to the PHP server. Why not use an FTP program? Copy the files to disk? I just don't see why FrontPage is necessary

No, the thing about FrontPage is that if given access by a server, it will upload and open a file without FTP. Since the server that parses PHP does not give FrontPage the option to do that, the only way to upload the pages he makes in FrontPage would be to use SFTP (security reasons). But i know that if I have trouble using SFTP correctly, HE's going to have trouble too (he barely understands FrontPage). So I need to create a WYSIWYG editor so that he can create pages like he always has, but they will save to the PHP server.

Understand any better now?

Don't worry about the frontpage thing... I just need help with the editor...
