[Resolved] Disable "Right Click" ???

I know this is a PHP forum,

But some one must have the javascript code that dissalows right clicking, It brings up a pop up box with a message of your choice?

can any one help?

that script disables right clicking but doesnt bring up a little pop up box!

I can use that, but i would like to be able to bring up a little box that says something like "hahah, nope!" or something like that.

hmm... it probably isnt a good idea to 'disable' right clicking, it can be irritating for users at times.

could you explain why it may be anoying for some users.

bearing in mind that i have only put this code on my DISPLAY.PHP page, as this page displays the main images from thumbnail links.

Its just because i want all the images on my site to be original, because people always nick stuff from my website.

But im interested to see why some might find that anoying.??

oh, that should be ok then.

I was having more things like this forum in mind, where ppl might not use keyboard shortcuts to copy/paste, but instead use the context menu from right clicking.

Do bear in mind that trying to stop a user from obtaining your images like that isnt likely to work for more experienced users.

hahaha, your probably right, but the kind of people that will be viewing my website will not be experienced users.

Its a graffiti website.

Well, I bet that you have ever click on FILE - SAVE AS, havent you?

Another thing that someone can do is to view the source of the file, get the URL of the image, and view it alone (without your javascript code)!

Or they could disable javascript. But it is not as uncommon as you think to disable right clicking. A lot of online banking sites, course registration systems and other apps that needs more control over the user disable the right click.

This is a pet peeve of mine. disabling me from stealing your image isn't going to stop me, and I am not that technically advanced! As was mentioned, I can get to the source code anyway, and once I do, your image is mine!

Why does it annoy me so much?

Number 1 because if I want to copy anything, like the title of your page to link to it or get to your source code to copy your meta description again for linking purposes it takes me twice as long!

And Number 2 - if you have a form and I want to paste in some info for you or perhaps copy my comment before sending, I can't do it til I look up the darn keyboard shortcuts. (I realize this probably doesn't apply to your page)

Number three...why do you a) assume I'm a thief and b) assume I'm a stupid thief that goes around the internet trying to steal images without knowing how to overcome a silly (hahaha) non-effectual javascript?
