changing Apache 2.0.44 root directory

Hi I'm going to add jsp ability to my apache / php system, but inorder to do so I need to change the root directory of apache so it doesn't contain any spaces. I've done this and made all the necessary changes in the apache and php's configuration files. The only problem I'm having is apache.exe is still looking for the configuration file in old directory. I'd really appreciate any insight into what I've missed. Thanks for your help in advanced🙂

you configure it in 2 places in httpd.conf for apache

you need to change it were the line is like the following

DocumentRoot "C:/wwwroot"

yours might be in a diffrent directory

and this spot

then save the httpd.conf file and stop and start apache (or restart apache)

he's talking about ServerRoot, not DocumentRoot.

how are you starting apache? is this a win32 install? if so, and you're starting from a shortcut(which you would be if it starts on login), just change the "target" thing in the shortcut's properties.

Hi thanks for the help. Of course this was another example of user error. I didn't know you couldn't put comments in the middle of a line for example: ServerRoot "C:\ApacheGroup" #Comment
this little error caused me all the headache.
