Having trouble inserting

I know I'm going something really dumb, but I just don't see it. Does there seem to be anything wrong with this little bit of code?

$sql = "INSERT INTO cars (users_user_id, car_make, 
car_model, car_year, 
car_engine, car_description, cars_cmdos, cars_fmods) 
VALUES ('$user','$make','$model','$year','$engine','$description','$cmods','$fmods')";

What is the error you are receiving from the database? What database are you using?

I'm not receiving an error, the data just isn't being put into the tables. I'm using mysql.

Could it have something to do with the auto incrementing primary key for the first column in the table? I have another table where I use basically the same line to populate a users table and I have no problems at all.

Could it be that the variables are inaccessible for some reason, or that they are undefined/empty?

Nope, I used an echo to see what was in some of the variables before I tried to insert them and they have data. Here's the full script.

The form that I'm using to collect the data has 5 file boxes which don't do anything yet. I don't think that has anything to do with it though.

if users_user_id is a primary key and autoincremtent then dont try to insert it in the SQL statement.

also try echoing out mysql_affected_rows($result) and mysq_error();

users_user_id isn't the primary key, it's a foriegn key that refers to the user table. cars_id is the primary key for this table.

I used the mysql_error() function and it didn't report any errors. I'm having trouble figuring out how to implement the mysql_affected_rows function.
