Download multiple files

Here is my situation. I developed an online application viewing website. I has PDF versions of scanned applications. The user can search through them and pull up the PDF. I want the user to be able to select multiple PDFs for download. So the user selects checkboxes next to the application they want to view. When they click Download, i want the files to be automatically sent to them. I cant use email and i dont want a save file as dialog popping up for each one. Currently I have the asp page zip the files and give them a download link. But there are many problems with the way it is setup and I dont want to use it. Maybe Java would be better to use, I dont know. Please help.

Hi,

this one isn't easy without using zip. An applet might do the stuff, but I don't know such an applet yet. The only thing I know is how to make the save as popups appear automatically and (nearly) parallel with one click. The user would have to hit the save button for each file anyways 🙁. As soon as a user hits save and before choosing the file name the next save as would pop up.

It's not a very nice solution but the user wouldn't have to click on each download link 🙂
