PHP Form Not posting?

Hi,
I just moved a site to a new webserver, I don't have access to it as it is about 150kms away from, I setup everything correctly and it all works except when I log-in.

Through some trial and error I've worked out that POST does not work, when I hit submit it just goes to the page but doesn't pass the values, yet the exact same code works on my main server.

Any one have any ideas?

You should search the forums, the answer is around somewhere.

The problem lies with register_globals being set to Off in your remote server.
That can be a Good Thing, so you should change your code to use stuff like $_POST['incoming_varname'] instead of using $incoming_varname

I didn't know what to look for, I did look elsewhere, trust me jumping on a forum asking is not the first thing I do, I was just frustrated after an hour of testing the code and trying to work out why it wasn't working. 🙁

But that is interesting, the web-site I'm working on is for someone else and it is a rather large amount of code that would need changing, and consider the code does work, I'd rather not. Currently the site is hosted on a temporary server, but the people I made it for want to move it their existing host, a company I would not trust to host my 13 year old sister's 2 page web-site.

We, myself and my partner, have had nothing but trouble dealing with them to get this setup, wrong passwords given too us, miscommunications, and now this.

Its rather daunting. But the hosting isn't up to us, and its not our place to decide.

I'll look into seeing how register_globals is turned back on, thanks for the info again, if not the attitude, I'll speak to the guy hosting it for them.

if you NEED register_globals to be on

it is in your php.ini file

there will be a line like

register_globals = Off

change it to

register_globals = On

then make sure to restart Apache to get the changes to take effect
