Instant messaging

Does anyonw know, how can be possible to send instant messages from PHP to clients such as ICQ, MSN...?

Or maybe some other way, just NOT having to use the email.
I have to make an application that will allow to the client to request some service, online. The problem is, it has to be instant... no minutes, or even seconds to waste. And I really don't know what's the best option for this.

I really don't have a lot of experience in this type of situation. Any ideas are very appreciated.
Later on I can put some details on how it should work... if somebody wants to help me...

Your best option would probably to check out http://www.wiredbots.com. This site discusses creating bots on IM clients (most notably AIM), but it's focus in on Perl, which makes since considering the ease-of-use of the Perl Net::AIM module.

I installed the LIVEHELP, and I got this after completing the installation:

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in E:\Inetpub\wwwroot\livehelp\admin_chat.php on line 145

Here's the line 145:

	if($use_flush != "no"){ sleep(2); }

How can I change the maximum time of execution???

you can change the max exection time in your php.ini file

max_execution_time = 30 ; Maximum execution time of each script, in seconds

im pretty sure those scripts are meant to be run from the command line. correct if im wrong though.

LIVEHELP was not what I wanted... and PERL, it's way too complicated, I hate it....

So, I decided to stick up with my own script, but I'm gonna need some help. Here's some ugly sketch:

pretty much the same as LIVEHELP that i had him download already, i think he is trying to do something a little different, not sure though, he asked for something to interact with his clients and that is EXACTLY what livehelp is, and its free, unlike phplivesupport

No, I don't want to interact with the client.... maybe I explained bad. It's totally different...

Here's the deal:
The X company is offering some service, and the client is supposed to make the request, by only pushing one button, under his profile. And that request should get to the screen of the guys that work like support, so they can start giving them the service withing seconds.

So my idea was, to make one SS page, which will be auto-refreshed, and will read the data, client is sending, from the database. The client is not supposed to get in contact with anybody. The support will have that page open in their IE, for 24h.......

See?!

Just I don't know how to handle all that...

ok fair enough,

when the user clicks the button the data can be stored in a database, indicating that the user wants some info.

The support has open a page that contains an iframe that refreshes (with meta) every 5 seconds checking to see if an entry has been made.

Does this make sence?
